THE HERZOG FAMILY is a traditional family
band whose roots and love for the traditional
and gospel Bluegrass style of music run very
deep. The band was formed in the summer of
2003. Starting out with a four piece band with
only two instruments playing. The band has
various instrument that are now played on
stage. The band first began when parents Doug
and Rene' Herzog saw potential in their
children's picking and singing.
Mom, Rene' has always enjoyed playing music
and singing on stage with friends and family. It
has always come natural to her, and was always
a lifetime dream of hers, starting at a very
young age. She started attending bluegrass
festivals and jam sessions with her parents
when she was just a young toddler. She first
sang in public at the age of five in church. The
family noticed more musical roots through the
third generation of the family, where Rene' and
Doug's oldest son, Justin started teaching
himself to play many different instruments at
the age of 12. He then passed the talent down
to younger twin siblings Brittany and Forrest
Herzog.
The family's first public performance as a band
was when they were asked to perform for a
fundraiser. That's where the family band began
for the Herzog's. The band has played for many
venues, such as fundraisers, retirement centers,
monthly Bluegrass Shows, churches,
Jamborees, and much more. The band now
consists of Mom, Rene' Herzog who does lead
vocals and band coordinating, Dad, Doug
Herzog who manages the band and plays a very
important role. He also works very hard behind
the scenes in getting the band to their various
destinations. Oldest son, Justin Herzog 21,
Banjo, Upright Bass, Dobro, Mandolin, Fiddle,
Guitar, and Baritone Vocals. Twin son, Forrest
Herzog 15, Guitar, Upright Bass, Mandolin,
Banjo, and High Tenor Vocals, and twin
daughter, Brittany Herzog 15, Mandolin,
Upright Bass, and Vocals round out the group.
The band's main goal and dream is to begin
playing Bluegrass Festival full time. The band
gives all their thanks and glory to the Lord for
giving each one their talent, and also their close
friends and family for standing by their side
through each step of their journey. They look
forward to seeing and visiting with each and
everyone in their audiences, and also sharing
the Gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
