This North East Texas bluegrass band may be relatively new on the scene, but their
roots are definitely steeped in the "ancient tones" of bluegrass. Always a crowd
pleaser, the SONS OF THE SOUTH band has the talent and stage presence to make
an impact on any audience.
Originally from Louisiana, SONS OF THE SOUTH bring the unmistakable harmonies
and licks that only a family unit can possess. Deric, Jason, Clayton, and Seth
Forrestier make up this hard-driving band. Three brothers and a son (Seth is Deric's
son). Deric, Jason, and Seth had dabbled with the idea of a bluegrass band. First
being called the "Two Bit Bluegrass Band"and then later being joined by banjo picker
Ben McCarty and starting up the SONS OF THE SOUTH. When Ben went off to
college, the group called on the talents of brother and uncle, Clayton Forrestier on
dobro to complete the group that is performing now.
The Forrestier family member blend their talents on both instrumental pieces and
tedious vocal selections. Deric even professes to be fond of "murder ballads"...... the
true high lonesome sound! Not to say that this band just covers other bands'
standards, their talents also span to songwriting as well. A force to be reckoned
with..............SONS OF THE SOUTH will definitely make you stand up and cheer!!!
